Born and raised in southeastern Ohio, Balderson graduated from Zanesville High School and attended both Muskingum College and The Ohio State University.
Currently serving his second term in the Ohio Senate representing the 20th District, he is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and a member of the Senate Finance Committee.
Prior to his time in the State Senate, he and his family owned and operated a farm in Adamsville, Ohio for several generations and also owned an automotive dealership that had been in the family for three generations. In addition, Balderson is a triathlete and adventure sports enthusiast who has competed in races throughout the country.
In the State Senate, Balderson is a steadfast conservative and champion for a smaller, more efficient government. He has fought federal overreach and the Obama Administration’s devastating effects on Ohio’s energy industry. He’s worked to protect life and the unborn, our Second Amendment rights, and consistently voted to keep taxes low.
As someone who has operated a small business, he knows what it means to sign the front of a check, not just the back. He has dealt with the devastating effects of Obamacare and seen it force employers to choose between job creation and stagnation. That’s why he will keep fighting to repeal Obamacare, even though DC-politicians may think the fight is over.
A father to one son, he resides in Zanesville and has served as an elder at the First Christian Church.
